Dr. Patty Lopex Dr. Patty Lopez is an Intel Encore Computer Science Fellow in Residence at New Mexico State University (NMSU), where she is working to broaden participation in computing and to increase student engagement and graduation completion. Previously, she was a Senior Platform Applications Engineer in the Datacenter Platforms Group at Intel Corporation, working with customers to deliver datacenter server chip and persistent memory solutions. Prior to joining Intel in 2008, she spent 19 years as an Imaging Scientist for Hewlett Packard, creating and transferring technology in imaging into scanner, camera, and all-in-one products. She has released over fifty products across five business lines and holds seven imaging patents and served as the NMSU Campus Manager to HP for a decade. A first-generation college student, she earned her BS (with honors), MS, and PhD in Computer Science from NMSU.

Dr. Oscar A. Perez was born in Mexico and discovered a fascination for the electronics built into heavy equipment at a young age. His interest began when he worked construction with his father. This led him to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He continued his studies, receiving a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. While working on his advanced degrees, Dr. Perez felt compelled to give back to the university and accepted a full-time position as a Network Analyst/Systems Administrator and a part-time position as an Engineering Lecturer. Early in his career, Dr. Perez’s passion for engineering and advanced education led him to explore ways to make STEM careers more appealing to students within the College of Engineering at UTEP, as well as students in grades K-12. He firmly believes that it is never too early to plant a seed in the back of anyone’s mind and offer encouragement to help them to achieve their goals.
In 2017, Dr. Perez left UTEP and switched his career path by joining the U.S. Army as a Civilian employee with the Army Research Laboratory. He is currently a Computer Engineer specializing in Cybersecurity as a Cyber S&T Team Lead, with the U.S. Combat Capabilities Development Command Analysis Center, a major subordinate organization to Army Futures Command. Dr. Perez is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional and holds additional professional cybersecurity certifications. He leads his organization’s Outreach and Talent Management efforts by coordinating the annual Gains in Engineering, Math, and Science (GEMS) Program and recently expanded the organization’s summer Internship Program to universities outside the local area. He has published in over 30 journals and is the recipient of several awards, including The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers’ Academic Scholarship and the American Society for Engineering Education’s Woody Everett Award.
Dr. Perez is inspired because he enjoys using science to protect the warfighter, while working in a research environment with state-of-the-art technology and like-minded coworkers. Dr. Perez enjoys teamwork; believes in mentoring and inspiring others; and teaching his children and students, within the community, that education is a process for achieving life-long learning. Dr. Perez is equally passionate about soccer and has coached boys and girls soccer teams for the past 12 years. He is happily married and has three loving children.

Dr. Jayashree Harikumar Chief, Cyberspace Emerging Technologies and Integration Branch
Dr. Harikumar is a Branch Chief with the Cyber Experimentation and Analysis Division (CEAD) under DEVCOM Data & Analysis Center, U.S. Army Futures Command. She is also actively involved in establishing the Science and Technology (S&T) Portfolio for CEAD. Prior to her current position with the Army, Dr. Harikumar served in Senior Technical positions at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, and the Physical Science Laboratory, NMSU. Dr. Harikumar has a doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering and Space Physics from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Dr. Abe Ittycheriah
I have worked in Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Machine Translation for over 30 years. During this time, the field has seen enormous growth and many approaches are now based on networks of parameters. Applications have grown from speech and language processing to encompass a wide variety of human tasks. Currently, I work on configuration systems and algorithms for large language models. My most favorite accomplishments include designing a board with multiple DSP (digital signal processor) chips for speech recognition and writing a real-time OS. I have a number of publications and patents in these fields (first paper was in 1988).
