State Editor

The state editor is used to add new states to a tile state set or edit existing states. Below is an example of the screen for the state editor.

State Editor

Entering the Editor

The state editor is activated when the user selects the Edit ``state'' as the input state on a rule or New ``state'' as the output state from a rule in the
rule editor.

Using

The state editor provides the user with a simple image editor, which is used to edit the appearance of the state or define the appearance of a new state.

Below is an example of a partially filled in state:

A state may be defined as either a terminal or a nonterminal state, to mark whether the tile it represents has been fully explored. The robot will continue to explore the map until all of the tiles are in a terminal state, and the robot is not on a tile in the unknown state.

Exiting

Once the new state has been defined to the user's satisfaction, the file menu is used to modify it or add it to the stateset and return the user to the rule editor. The file menu's options are:

  • New - New state
  • Clear - Clear the screen
  • Undo - Undo the last command
  • Apply - Apply this state
  • Close - Close this window
