I’m a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science at New Mexico State University, where I research the human dimensions of privacy, surveillance, and accessible technology. My current work explores how communities along the U.S.–Mexico border experience and respond to surveillance systems, using qualitative and human-centered methods.
I also develop AI-integrated AAC tools to support individuals with speech and motor impairments, and I collaborate with faculty through CAHSI initiative to embed ethics module into CS curricula. I hold a Master’s in Computer Science, during which I published research on deniable encrypted messaging.
Outside of academia, I like to design clean interfaces, paint messy canvases, and organize everything except my desktop folders. I’m currently building AI-powered tools for AAC users—because everyone deserves a voice, and ideally one that doesn’t autocorrect “tacos” to “taxes.” Someday, I hope to turn this work into a startup that actually makes tech helpful. Until then, you’ll find me mixing code and color palettes, likely with a cup of tea in hand.
