Past Detail --
DEC 7 -- Martha is now discharged. David is doing very well!
We fully expect to be leaving Albuquerque at noon Dec 8

DEC 6 -- David went to the NICU last evening with
some breathing difficulties. As a precautionary, they
put him on IV antibiotics. Blood cultures won't be back until
late this week. Until then, the antibiotics continue and
he stays in the NICU. His breathing is better, on a psitive
note. We will be here longer than first thought, but shroter than
other scenarios.

DEC 5 -- David was taken down to the NICU with breathing
difficulties. He has been transitional the whole
time and his efforts need to be monitored for 8 to 24 hours.
No plan to add oxygen at the time of this writing -- we
are tired and hope to get some sleep this evening

Dec 5 -- Martha had some bleeding Dec at 9 am which put her back
into the hospital. Martha was monitored and after a full
day of this, they decided that there were more reasons to take
the baby with a planned C-section than to wait and have a major
incident. The C-section went well -- Martha had a spinal with
a new added drug called dura-morph which is to help relieve
the heavy pain from the C-section.

David was hug and scored a Ballard 37 (which says he responds like a 37
week old even though he was 35 weeks). Since it was a C-sectoin, David'S
ystem did not have a chance to clear out the lungs so I had a little
congestion for a few hours and was released to us at midnight (he
was called a transitional baby in the NICU which says he gets a little
more attention at birth). David is starting to nurse. I look forward
to getting out of the hospitalso that we only have David to wake us up
instead of every nurse and tech to look upon Martha and David.

Dec 3 -- Martha moved to a support housing area, called Casa Esperanze
located 3 blocks from UNM hospital. No food or drink in the room. Very
large common kitchen. We bought extra pillows, water and DVDs and are settling
down for a 14+ day experience in the room. Martha has an appointment on
Dec 8 and they will then schedule an ultra sound and probably an amneo.
Still looking at 37 weeks for the c-section.

Dec 1 -- Martha is to be discharged to the ALbuquerque area tomorrow (dec 2).
They are wanting Martha to continue to carry the baby as long as possible.
We are now hearing 37 weeks which would be Dec 19. Martha is now moving around
more in anticipation of having to move more when we get dicharged. It looks
like we will go to one of the support housing area (Casa de pelligrenos (sp)).

Nov 27 -- Since Martha is so stable, they do not want to take
David any earlier than 36 weeks (which would be the week of Dec 12).
Martha is by herself for the 27/28 and half of 29th because Shaun has
some Master students to graduate this week. Martha's father comes to
Albuquerque on Tuesday Nov 29 at noon.

Nov 26 -- all is well. Martha's parents and oldest sister are in Albuquerque for
the day.

Nov 23 -- Martha had an ultra sound Nov 22. All is very good. They
do an assessment of the size of David
Femur : 33.5 weeks
Abdomin : 36 weeks
Head : 38 weeks.

Unless there is a major problem, David will be in the normal nursery
instead of the Newborn ICU (NICU). We are very pleased.

NOV 21 -- Martha continues to have on/off bleeding (light). The
goal is to get to 36 weeks, but Martha's health with loss of blood
can be an earlier event.

Nov 20 -- Asked more questions about bleeding and what it means. Based
on personal experience, 2 nurses told us that 1 out of 10 pregnancies like
Martha's turn into an emergency C-section. The others go to 36 weeks
and then a normal C-section is scheduled. We should expect some bleeding
from time to time as the baby is getting larger and the various
containers are getting stretched. We will have an ultra-sound on
tuesday to make sure David is growing properly.

Nov 18 -- Martha is bleeding again, went to labor and delivery where they
watched her and then sent he back to her (much better) previous room.

NOv 15 -- looks like Martha will be in until December 6. At that point
and Amneo will be performed to see if lung development is sufficient
to perform a C-section -- if all is well, we would be home around Dec 14

Nov 13 -- Martha is getting the blues. Anyone wanting to call he
or email, would be welcomed. Martha now has wheel chair privs and we
went out yesterday for some sun and fresh air -- willdo the same today

Nov 11 -- Martha had contractions on the early morning of Nov 10.
They gave her lots of water and that got the contractions to go away.
The general thought is that Martha won't make another 3 weeks. We hope
to make 32 weeks (next monday) as that seems to be a really good milestone.
We have no way of predicting when this will happen. My best guess is that
we will be in ALbuquerque until December 14... SHaun is headed to Alb.
Martha's parents are returning to LC for 4 days.

Nov 9 -- because Martha is 4cm dialated, they want to keep Martha
at the hospital. No chance of a half-way-house until David is
delivered. They will have to do a C-section due to the location of
the placenta, so Martha won't be able to drive a car for 2 weeks
after that event.

Nov 8 -- Shaun came to LC. Martha's parents are in ALB. Life
is crazy after just moving... All is fine

Nov 7 -- nothing new

Nov 6 18:00 -- All is well! We have come to a daily pattern of
eating, reading, talking, keeping clean, etc. We watch a movie each nite
on the laptop. I am glad that things are going well.

Nov 5 9:30 -- we spoke with the dept head of the mother/baby area. He said
their current theory is that Martha has a minor abruption/previa. He indicates
that all looks good with respect to the baby. Martha's last bleeding was
thursday morning, Nov 3. If there is no bleeding for at least a week, there
is a thought that Martha could move to the Ronald McDonald house and be monitored
infrequently (but still stay close the hospital. That move would be somewhere
Nov 11 - Nov 13 (at 32 weeks for David)

If there are no signs of additional bleeding through thanksgiving, we may be able
to travel home on the weekend after T-day and be home for David's birth...
