Execution Engine Map Display

The Execution Engine map displays the current status of the robot's exploration of the world. The map tiles encode both information obtained to date, and also instructions for behavior when the tile is re-encountered.

The map tiles are all states, as defined by the state editor. On each execution cycle, Altaira reads the state from the current tile to use as one of the inputs in selecting the rule to execute. A new state, which is found in the selected rule, is written into the map in the current location before the robot moves.

  • Initial Heading - allows the user to choose a begining direction i.e north, east, south or west respectively (where north is up).

  • Start Tile - allows a user to choose the tile start position. In Virtual Mode, the start position is chosen using the Virtual Map and is shown on this window. In Real mode, the start position tile may be chosen using the Start Position button.
