Description:

This course is designed to assist students with the development of the problem solving and critical thinking skills necessary for success in general chemistry. This course is workshop based and meets twice a week for 50 minutes per session. The workshops are interactive and will focus on concept enhancement through problem solving.Reviews and practice exams/quizzes will also be involved. The workshop sessions are NOT tutorial sessions, but will focus on the process of learning general chemistry through group interaction.

Requirements:

Co-Requisite:Students must be enrolled in Chemistry 111 to take the workshop.

Attendance:It is impossible to contribute to a workshop without being physically and mentally present. For this reason, the student?s grade depends entirely on attendance and participation in group activities.

The Facilitator can choose to accept more forms of proof at their discretion. Without such proof the student will not be permitted in the workshop and will forfeit the day?s points.

Attendance:

The student?s grade depends entirely on participation. It is impossible for absent students to participate. Doctor?s excuses and official NMSU-sponsored activity excuses are acceptable. However, students are expected to contact their facilitators before missing class to discuss alternatives to absence.
