Meeting Minutes

March 4, 2004

Present: Lori McKee, Mary Jaspers, Melanie Martin, Erin McSherry, Debbie Montoya,

Nancy Qualkenbush, Janet May, Paul LaPorte

Meeting minutes from the May 22, 2003, were reviewed and approved.

Lori McKee reviewed the utilization statistics to date for the 2003/2004 academic year.

Ms. McKee informed those present that a proposal had been made by the current insurance carrier which includes maintaining the current level of benefits at a 6% increase in premiums. A discussion followed on the loss of enrollment due to the increase in rates in the recent past and the concern that, if rates are again increased without manipulation of the plan, that a loss in enrollment will continue. Janet May suggested proposing to the insurance company that they come down on the rate increase, or provide a richer benefit plan. Lori McKee indicated it might be better to demand that there be no increase, that the current level of benefits be maintained, and then monitor how the next year goes.

Everyone unanimously voted to have Ms. McKee refuse the 6% increase and demand the maintenance of the current level of benefits.
