Watch this TED talk: Richard St. John’s 8 Secrets to Success (excuse the mild profanity near the end). Answer in complete sentences the following questions in the online submission form:

  1. According to the speaker, what are the 8 secrets of success?
  2. Which of the 8 do you already have or practice in your studies?
  3. Which of the 8 do you need to incorporate into your studies?
  4. Which of the 8 might not apply to your studies? Explain.

Part 2

Read the following web article: Secrets of the Most Successful College Students and answer the following questions in the online submission form:

  1. What are the three kinds of learners that Bain says college students fit into?
  2. How many patterns does Bain identify for the “deep learners”?
  3. Offer at least one “big question” that you want to ask for this course. Feel free to offer more.

Part 3

Read the following web article: How to be Sucessful in College and answer the following questions in the online submission form:

  1. Which tips (at least two) are you already doing?
  2. Which tips (at least two) are you not doing but need to?
  3. Which tips (at least one) seem least valuable to you?
