This exam involves practical exercises on a new virtual cs480 machine that is ready for you at csvm3.cs.nmsu.edu. The name of your new virtual machine is yourCSusername_final_cs480fa22 (as you will see it in VMware once you connect to csvm3 -in instructor's case the name would be istrnad_final_cs480fa22). The VM's firmware does not have passwords set and the linux root's password is the same as is the root's password on your other cs480 virtual hosts. Hostname of your new VM host as known to csvm3 is yournamefinal (andrewfinal, ivanfinal,...) and you can ssh into it from csvm3 similar to
csvm3_prompt% ssh root@johnfinal
For each practical exercise make sure to first implement the tasks on your virtual machine. After that describe the process in the canvas quiz: list the steps made, files modified, changes done, and commands used (copy and paste may often work the best - note that almost all exercises can be done through ssh session from which is the copying and pasting quite easy. Only one exercise or two may need to be done through a VMware console)You may NOT use yast nor yast2 during the whole exam to accomplish any of the tasks. You will get 0 points for a task if you use yast/yast2. For example if you use yast to modify your DNS settings then you will get 0 points for failing to accomplish that task.
Please also note, that
