The Bible Study Leader

A bible study leader must fill many roles:
  • Discussion Leader / Mediator
  • Mentor
  • Shepherd (must be aware of needs)
  • Rule Setter / Referee
  • Time Keeper

"Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers."
1 Timothy 4:16

The leader must also be prepared for each meeting. The leader must be knowledgeable of the material to be covered as well as spiritually prepared to lead people in a discovery of God. These are both important because it is the leader's responsibility to make sure that there are no bad teachings or bad interpretations of scripture.

If you are thinking about being a bible study leader then I commend you. However, be prepared, it is not always as easy as it looks. You will be disappointed, frustrated, maybe even angry at times. But, in the end, it is all worth it to be able to see people come to a better understanding of who God is and what Christianity is all about. Good luck and God be with you.
