Contextual Bible Studies:
The basic idea of this type of bible study is to really analyze a specific
portion of scripture within its given context. An example would be if a
study took a specific book of the bible and went through a chapter a week.
The participants should read through the section and try to pick out what
it is saying. Often they will find that some verse that they have heard
before means something slightly different than they thought when it is put
in the context of the rest of the passage. Also, as in the case mentioned
earlier, the participants get to see the common threads that go through
each book and, in time, even through the whole bible.
This type of bible study is geared toward one who wants to get a lot of
exposure to scripture. It is a great way to really dig into what is going
on in a passage. Some recommended books of the bible to start with
include Galatians and James.
