Interested in doing more with Computer Science and Smart Grid Technologies? Join the CS Adventures team and create new technology! The CS Adventures Summer Camp will offer sessions including Raspberry Pi, Arduino programming using C, computational thinking, smart grid technologies and more.
CS Adventures is a day camp that will host 30 high school students, & includes lunch, supplies, and swag (bags, notepads, pens, etc.). Applicants must be rising into 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade, submit an online application, be in good academic standing, and able to be present every day.
Summer camps are tailored to achieve four major goals:
1) Build community among students through computing;
2) Increase student’s interest in computing;
3) Gain knowledge and exposure to introductory programming; &
4) Drastically increase all students’ confidence in Computer Science.
Each goal is achieved through specific sets of activities implemented in the summer camp. Participants utilize computational thinking through a variety of interactive software tools. These tools, along with team building, career exploration, and leadership activities, show students that computer science can be a fun, creative, engaging, and rewarding field!
Presented by the GK12 DISSECT and iCREDITS programs in the Department of Computer Science at NMSU! Instructors are NMSU and GK12 graduate students, undergraduate students studying computer science and electrical engineering, and student researchers with the Young Women in Computing program.
