VL 2000 Paper, Poster, and Demo Submissions

General Information

• Length: Research papers must be eight pages or less; poster and demo papers must be two pages or less. Longer papers will be returned unreviewed.
• Language: Manuscripts must be written in English.
• Paper Format: IEEE two-column conference format, including figures, tables, and references.
• File Format: Electronically submitted papers (see below) should be submitted in Portable Document Format (PDF). Please note that the freely available package GhostScript, which is available in versions that run under Unix, VMS, Windows, and MacOS, is capable of translating PostScript files into PDF.
• Cover Sheet: Papers must include an additional cover sheet containing the following information:
  • Title
  • Author names and affiliations
  • Surface and e-mail addresses of the corresponding author
  • Telephone and fax numbers of the corresponding author
  • 10-line abstract of the paper content
  • A list of up to five keywords selected from the visual programming language bibliography table of contents describing the paper's topic, to be used in helping to assign reviewers
  • Whether you wish the paper to be considered as a research paper, a poster, or a demo proposal (note: we may decide to accept a paper, originally submitted as a research paper, as a poster)

Submission Instructions

Papers may be submitted using any of the following three methods:

• Preferred:
• If Web Page Submission is Impossible: Send e-mail to vl2000@cs.nmsu.edu, including the paper as an attachment. You should include the cover sheet information in the main body of the mail message.
• If E-mail Submission is Impossible: Use FTP to transfer the file to the VL2000 submission directory as follows:
  1. Use an FTP client to connect to ftp.cs.nmsu.edu
  2. Log in as user anonymous, using your e-mail address as your password
  3. Be sure you are in binary mode.
  4. Change your working directory to /pub/vl2000
  5. Transfer your paper to this directory, using a file name of the form name.pdf where name is the username portion of your e-mail address (so if your e-mail address were pfeiffer@cs.nmsu.edu, the file name would be pfeiffer.pdf).

     note: you won't be able to examine the directory to see if your download was successful

  6. Immediately send e-mail to vl2000@cs.nmsu.edu notifying us of your paper submission. You should include the cover sheet information as part of the mail message, and also include the file name you stored the paper under.
• If Hardcopy Submission is Absolutely Necessary: Mail five hardcopies of your paper to

  Even in this case, it would be helpful to send e-mail to vl2000@cs.nmsu.edu notifying us of your paper submission.

In all cases, you will be notified by e-mail of our receipt of your paper, and our success or failure in printing it, within 24 hours.
