Acting
A few of my more memorable (to me, anyway) roles.
hmm, I've gotten behind on posting stills....
- The Court Clerk in Hello, Dolly. One line away from
being listed in the chorus! - 2008
- Mr. Kraler in The Diary of Anne Frank. I also served
as Assistant Director and did sound design (we used the new script,
which has extensive voiceovers and other sound effects). Wow, this
was a very affecting play to be in. Since then, I've had the
opportunity to tour Dachau — another very moving experience - 2008
- The Baseball Manager in "Who's On First" for the 2008
One-Act Play Festival. What a hoot - 2008
- The Captain in Anything Goes!. In which I convincingly
proved that I can't dance... - 2007
-
Dr. Edward Armstrong in And Then There Were None. This is
the part that Dr. Greyburn (see below) was modelled after in musical
parody version of the play - 2007
- Jacob Marley in Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol (with
all the times I've died on stage, this is the first time I've
played a ghost! And even though I'm dead when the play starts I
still die during the play) - 2006
- Charley in Death of a Salesman (a great part. Charley
takes a lot of figuring out) - 2006
- Charles Condomine, in Blithe Spirit (the part of Elvira
was double-cast, so I had two dead wives and a live wife on stage,
plus my real wife backstage as stage manager. Maybe next time I'll
get a speaking part?). A note here that one of my dead wives (the
lovely Erin) also played my abused wife in Mary Girard and
my fiance in Jekyll and Hyde. I keep thinking we need to
do The Ghost and Mrs. Muir together - 2006
- Senex in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the
Forum (in which I got to sing the greatest song in the
history of sexual harrassment, "Everybody Ought to Have a
Maid") - 2005
- Stephen Girard, in The Insanity of
Mary Girard (in
contrast to Claudius, Mr. Hyde, Uncle Henri and even Judas for a
local church, Stephen was nasty) - 2005
- The title role(s) in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (my students
were commenting about typecasting. I have no idea what they
were talking about -- I'm nothing at all like Dr. Jekyll) - 2004
- Claudius in Hamlet (this one was work!) - 2004
- Uncle Henri in My Three Angels
(getting in touch with my inner SOB. Another trend for my
future work. Hey, it's OK to be typecast as long as you get cast!)
- 2002
- Dr. Greyburn in Something's
Afoot (my students enjoyed watching me die on
stage... I had no idea I was starting a trend for my future work!) - 2001
- The Captain of the Inquisition
in The Man of La Mancha (apparently the director had
heard about my oral exams) - 2000
