Team Assignment 1

Assigned: Jan 20, 2005
Due: Jan 27, 2005

In this assignment your team must brainstorm and generate requirements for your semester project. Your team should use the ideas of UML use cases as a way to structure your requirements.

The dia tool, which is very capable at drawing UML diagrams, is available on Linux machines, at least those in the SH 118 lab (I have requested that they be more broadly available). You do not have to draw use case diagrams, but you are encouraged to check out dia and use it if possible. Minimally, you should provide textual descriptions of your requirements, probably as use case descriptions. You should use the ideas of use cases by:

Each entity should be described with a paragraph or so of text.

WebCam Project

The webcam project should aim to make 3+ high resolution (approximately 1200x1000) webcams operate to capture legibly the contents of classroom chalkboards for use in a collaborative virtual environment, as well as for standalone (non-CVE) users.

Michael Wilder was kind enough to post the following links to webcam technical info for the high-resolution Toshiba webcams. I have so far one webcam for us to test, and will order more as soon as we have some positive indicators that these cameras will work for us.

The "Advanced User's Guide"

The datasheet and specifications of the device.
