This display shows clearly that MGRW Case #2 windows can provide a separation between homonymous neighbors (repeats) of truncated addresses which is twice as great as that provided by MGRS.   In the left portion of the display is shown a central GPS position marked by a red star   "  at a location in the Joshua Tree National Park (JTNP). The (high-order) truncated MGRS address of this location also denotes several other GPS locations marked by red squares   g  which are called homonymous neighbors of the central location (and of each other).   In the right portion of the display is shown a central GPS position marked by a red star   "  at approximately the location of KABUL in Afghanistan. The (high-order) truncated MGRS address of this location also denotes several other GPS locations marked by red squares   g   which are called homonymous neighbors of the central location (and of each other).

In the left portion of the display are the dual-letter coordinates of the 40 metric DOMAINS of an MGRW Case #3 Window which just encloses the entire continental United States. The spacing of the homonymous neighbors in the left portion of the display can be compared with the spacing of the repeats of the (high-order) truncated MGRS address of Meade Kansas shown on page 5 of the   U S National Grid (USNG) Truncation Illustration   prepared by   Tom Terry   of the   Public X-Y Mapping Project.  

The spacing of the MGRS homonymous neighbors in the right portion of the display can be compared with the spacing of the MGRW Case #2 Windows homonymous neighbors which are just those red squares   g   which occur within metric DOMAINS colored yellow. The MGRW Case #2 Windows homonymous neighbors are clearly twice as far apart, and only one-quarter as dense, as are the MGRS homonymous neighbors.
