The New Mexico Ph.D. program in Computer Science is administered by the Departments of Computer Science at NMSU, The University of New Mexico (UNM, in Albuquerque), and the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMIMT, in Socorro). Candidates for the degree enroll at one of the three universities and receive the degree from that university. All three departments extend to all Ph.D. students in the program all of the courtesies and facilities offered to their own students, including advisement by their faculty, freedom to attend their classes and seminars, and use of their computers and libraries.
One benefit of this arrangement is that you can include in your Doctoral Committee people from the other two institutions. However, your PhD advisor (the chairman of the committee) should if possible be from our department, and the committee should preferably include at least one other member of the department.
