Main Functions of the Committee
* Acting as a source of information and advice to graduate students.
* Designing requirements, policies and procedures concerning graduate students.
* Arranging for appropriate faculty members to write, administer and grade Qualifying Examinations for PhD students.
* Helping to ensure consistency of procedure/policy/standards across doctoral and master's committees, especially with regard to the conduct of Comprehensive Examinations, Prospectus Evaluations and Master's Final Exam Evaluations.
* Overseeing the graduate curriculum.
* Proposing disciplinary actions in individual cases.
* Proposing and monitoring admission policies and procedures, evaluating admission applications, and arranging publicity.
It is NOT one of the committee's functions to recommend teaching assistantships. This is currently done by the Awards Committee.
