Anyway, my friend and I are interested in doing a show with music, interviews, and other fun things (as opposed to just playing music). What do we need to do toward that goal or is it too late already? To: That Guy Subject: RE: DJ slots actually it has not been too bad. what i am asking everyone to do is write up a little "report" about why you want to be a dj, when is a good time for you, why you think you would be valuable for the station, what kind of show you want to do, etc. kinda like a who, what, when, where, why, and how type of deal. and turn it in to my office, or through email no later than january 8th. of course, the sooner you turn it in, the more consideration i will give you. so if you would like a show next semester please do that. if you have any other questions you can call me at the numbers below. thanks! --chrissy by the way, interesting web page. ******************************************** Chrystine Osborn Program Director, KRUX Office: (505)-646-3505 Fax: (505)-646-2365 KRUX New Mexico State University Corbett Center Box 30004 Las Cruces, New Mexico 88003 U.S.A. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: That Guy [mailto:damcook@nmsu.edu] Sent: Wednesday, December 13, 2000 6:59 PM To: KRUX Programming Dept. Subject: RE: DJ slots Here is our "report" for the show that we hope to do in the spring. Please let us know if there is anything that needs to be added or clarified. Thanks. WHO: Damon Cook Damon wants to do this show because I like attention and I think it would be good experience for something later in life, though I don't know what yet. Damon is a senior computer science major. His resume is available on the web at: http://www.cs.nmsu.edu/~dcook/resume Steven Ruybe Steve wants to do this show because Damon is generally wrong and he has to prove that to the world. He guested a few years back and enjoyed the experience. Steve is a senior electrical engineering student. Any particulars concerning Steve can be addressed at: sruybe@nmsu.edu Otherwise, his only media experience has been as an MCO at KRWG-TV. WHAT: The Variety Show With Damon and Steve A show that tries to entertain the listener with something different every week and also give them something to think about. We envision having things like guests, cheesy prizes, -of-the-day. We want to explore topics such as college-style cooking, getting a good math grade, how to make paint, and whatever else strikes our fancy. WHERE:At KRUX, for your listening pleasure Is there anywhere else that our water-cooler style conversations will actually get played? WHEN: Preferably after 7:30pm any day but Saturday WHY: We think we're funny sometimes and we want to be cool One semester we worked together and had "Political Hour With Damon and Steve" every Friday. We had a lot of fun and people were interested. We also got paid. We thought it would be cool to do our thing on the radio. HOW: Steve will play alternative/punk/Irish drinking music Damon will play indie music he found on the web They will do interviews, political debates, commentaries, weird contests, lame jokes, music, and other zaniness. DISCLAIMER: We expect to suck about 2/3 of the time but we'll play music if we're sucking too bad. We also expect to be pretty good the other 1/3 of the time. If we get this position, we'll definitely try to improve ourselves as we go. Flexibility and all that. Thanks for your time. -Damon and Steve Am I a conformist just like everybody else? - - - - - - - - -www.sexydogs.net- - - - - - - - - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- From here, we basically get told to go to training, are given a choice of timespots, the one we pick is already taken, and we end up with the final choice of Thursday nights (technically Friday mornings), midnight to 2am. Thus, the adventure begins.
