Teacher Professional Development- Summer 2016

The best (and free!) professional development in Computer Science for teachers in southern NM!

June 27 – 30, 2016

2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

NMSU Science Hall

The Computer Science Department at NMSU, supported by the GK-12 DISSECT and iCREDITS programs, is offering a 4-day workshop designed for area high school teachers, to support education emphasized at the national level by President Obama.

Programming is a creative process that involves individual and collaborative efforts to bring ideas to life through designing, developing, testing, and debugging computational artifacts.

The focus of the workshop will be two-fold:

1) Establish a learning foundation for further Python programming and development; and
2) Review the AP CS Principles course

Elementary and middle school teachers who are interested in learning valuable Python skillsĀ are welcome to apply. However, due to class size, HS STEM teachers will be given priority.

Participants in the program will receive a stipend and teaching materials to take back into the classroom.
