Position Title:                       Assistant Professor – Tenure Track – Full Time 9-month

Qualifications:                      ACADEMIC:  Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related discipline, by the time of appointment, and demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching and research.

 

EXPERIENCE:  We particularly solicit applications from candidates with expertise in data mining and data management, experience in inter-disciplinary research activities and candidates whose research foci complement and integrate the existing research activities in the Department, in areas like knowledge representation, bioinformatics, software engineering, and wireless and sensor networks.  Men and women, and members of all racial and ethnic groups, are encouraged to apply.

 

Examples of Duties:             The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program and teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Computer Science.  The Department has strong research and educational programs, extensive computing infrastructure (which includes several parallel and distributed platforms), and various computing and research laboratories, and it actively participates in several inter-disciplinary educational programs. The Department has received extensive funding for support of its instructional and research activities from a broad spectrum of agencies, including a $4.5M grant from NSF to establish a Center for Research Excellence in Bioinformatics.
