The University is a member of a consortium of universities that will work with a new High Performance Computing Research Center to be housed at Stanford University. Drs. Jing He and Amiya Bhattacharya of the CS department both have projects that will make use of the center's faciltities. The award for the new Center has recently been made to the consortium by the US Army. Previously the Center was housed at the University of Minnesota. The other members of the consortium, apart from Stanford and NMSU are UTEP and Morgan State.
