2009 CREST Summer Computer Science Programs

The CREST Center has designed the summer programs in an effort to expose high school and community college students to the field of bioinformatics. These programs include:

  • High School Bioinformatics Program: an intensive two-week summer program for local high school students which provides students with hands-on experience conducting research in computational and wet-lab environments. The students work on research projects and present a poster of their findings.
  • Young Women in Computing Program: a five-week program that introduces local high school women to bioinformatics, robotics, programming, and web design. They complete several research projects through out the five weeks and also return to NMSU monthly for seminars.
  • Community College Summer Program: an intensive five-week program that introduces students to bioinformatics, programming, and web design. Students also complete several research projectsand participate in targeted seminars aimed at introducing different areas of study within computer science.
